Yes, I realize I'm calling the Vice Presidential debate "the" debate when, in a normal election (whatever that is), people would pay more attention to the actual Presidential candidates.
A couple of notes on the overall tone of the debate. While Biden took a little bit to get warmed up, I think he did a great job avoiding the easy woman-hating trap the McCain campaign just begging for a reason to victimize Palin. Biden was sure to do everything but belittle her by focusing all of his major attacks on McCain himself and even went so far as to avoid the use female pronouns by calling her "the governor."
When watching Palin on the screen, I couldn't help but think "look, it's a brunette White House Barbie!" She kept doing her creepy mannequin smile to the camera and whenever she didn't have a decent answer to a question (pretty much the whole time), she would recap the "goals" of the McCain campaign as if John McCain was just behind the curtain pulling her string.
My biggest hope for this debate was for those who could care less about politics to actually wake up and pay attention. Sarah Palin is a real person who really can try to lead our country and will probably follow the same steps as the Bush "legacy." It's all very frightening. I was pleasantly surprised to see quite a few comments about it from my younger Facebook friends.
On a side note, I don't know why someone decided to tap dance on my sinuses, causing me to stay home yesterday and today. I didn't actually get to bed until about 3 am because of the massive amounts of drugs (Dayquil) and caffeine I was on to get through class in addition to the adrenaline rush I got from watching the debate.
Now, for more Econ. Maybe I'll take a break and try to tackle some of the Accounting homework... One more bitch about school: Because of the timing of my study group sessions, which can't be moved for a number of reasons, I can pretty much kiss watching Seahawks games live goodbye while class is in session. :( Booo!
