Against All Odds

A few months ago I heard an episode of "This American Life," a show on NPR, where they talked about break ups and heartache. The first part was on a traditional break up and the next was on a little girl dealing with her parent's break up. During the first part, to make a long story short, guy breaks up with girl, girl suddenly connects with the Phil Collins song "Against All Odds" and ends up getting help from the sorrow song writer himself to write a song of her own.

Having been a teenage girl at one point in my life (and occasionally feeling like one now), I was certainly able to relate to these feelings. It's probably the closest feeling real people have to being near a dementor from the Harry Potter books.

That said, I was ecstatic when one of my teachers choreographed to this song combining three of my favorite things in life: overemotional songs, cover songs and dancing. I'm going to be so sad when I can't go to this class anymore. Stupid education...
